We are warmly greeted by a cheongsam attired siren. She flashes a cool smile whilst escorting us up the stairs; our anticipation becomes palpable. From the colorful night we enter the seductive chamber of China One, our eyes slowly adjusting to the pin-point light dappling the faces of the beautiful people.

Before engaging in an evening of pool and conversation at the beautiful Baize pool tables we settle onto a plumply cushioned Chinese day bed and peruse the drinks menu. I settle on the exotic sounding Longan Martini and order a side dish of spicy prawn tofu to compliment – both are exquisite.

All too soon we are informed that our table is waiting and we make out way into Baize, along a catwalk-like plush carpet guiding our pilgrimage ...
